A friend who does some sales business internationally just added a payment option to his website using something called "Mycelium Gear", which is apparently a "web widget" that you embed into your website with javascript. I'm just wondering if there are any known security issues or other problems with this, and also if the fees are high (which seems to be a common complaint for people using the Mycelium wallet).
Anyone know about this thing? Comments? Thanks much!

Hey all,
I tried to move some bitcoin from mycelium using a low priority send (3sat/byte). Mycelium said it would be about 3 hours. It has been almost 6. Is their a way I can stop the send and increase the fee? Any idea how long it could take? I'm very new to this.
Appreciate the help.

Mycelium says they do not officially support UASF BIP148. They had a rogue developer speak on their behalf when they shouldn't have.

Recently there has been a lot of attention regarding Mycelium position on BIP 148. Our number one priority has been and always will be to keep our users funds secure. The Bitcoin scaling debate has split the community in many groups and created a lot of tension. This is a complex topic with huge financial interests at stake and no easy solution. Mycelium employs many developers with diverse views. Some of us strongly believe in BIP148. Their personal opinion has been incorrectly interpreted as company policy. We value and carefully listen to every independent opinion of every developer, but we always look for consensus before any new implementation. There is no official company decision to support BIP 148 at the moment. Whatever happens we will make sure that our users funds are accessible and secure. HELP - How to restore Mycelium wallet? Balance shows $0 (no bitcoin experience)

UPDATE: I figured it out. Downloaded another app called Coinomi and entered the 12 words phrase or “seed” and my bitcoin appeared! Maybe mycelium has a glitch!
Hello bitcoin experts!! So, I have ZERO experience in bitcoin wallets and all this stuff, so please be patient with me.
Context: in 2017 I bought whatever was worth 1k of bitcoin, I was recommended to download Mycelium as my wallet (that’s a far as my experience goes with bitcoin).
Fast forward 2020 I remembered I had this “money” or whatever in there, I downloaded the app again entered the key words (that I had written down back then) and was able to enter my wallet but it shows my balance is $0. (For what I read something happens when you delete the app and re install it with the keys or whatever)
I’m under the impression that you can recover your bitcoin with your “private key”, but I don’t know how.
• I have all the key words • I have written down a bunch of numbers and letters (totaling 32 characters) in the following format: 12ab-12ab..... (with hyphens) • I also have a bunch of numbers and letters written down (over 32 characters) and no dashes
Are any of those random characters my private key? If so, where do I enter it in Mycelium? Should I enter also the hyphens? Is it where it says “cold storage”
Or is my money gone forever?
I’ll appreciate any “bitcoin 101/for dummies help you can provide!!

Bitcoin continues to amaze the world and offers us a cash option, as opposed to the state-dominated money we use as a daily standard. Advocates argue that advanced currency standards are simpler, more secure, and offer preferential protection over traditional currency standards. In the last few years speculation has emerged as an open gate for some people's radars, as a Bitcoin forecast in contrast to the USD and forecasts of different monetary forms have increased. Before putting a dollar in Bitcoin or other digital money, it is imperative to understand the dangers. Bitcoin can cause a double increase in incentives over the next few years, but it can only be left to focus on value. Just put what you lose, because there's an opportunity you can't get back. If you understand the dangers and are ready to move forward, any of these best Bitcoin wallets should keep you safe.

Hardware Wallets - Ledger & Trezor

Bitcoin hardware wallets are a carefully designed electronic device that aims to store the secret keys of your coins in a disconnected environment. With these wallets, special keys and advanced signs are required to spend Bitcoin. As with any wallet, you should save the word seed on a piece of paper and store it in a protected place. Distribute favorites by making several copies. Moreover, as the switches are disconnected, there is no possibility of being attacked. During the season of this composition, there was no theft or loss of Bitcoin from the hardware wallet. Some hardware wallets have security network cards, while others have a small advanced display with a user interface to control swaps. Even if your hardware wallet is damaged, you can effectively re-install your Bitcoin device with the word recovery. Bitcoin hardware wallets were developed after Bitcoin was designed. Currently, different digital forms of money in these wallets ETH, LTC, and so on. If you need to store Bitcoin and other encryption money securely over an extended period, you will need to set up a hardware wallet at this point. Because most of these hardware wallets have a waiting period of one or two months due to enormous interest, you should arrange one at the first opportunity.

Atomic Wallet

The Atomic Wallet is a free wallet that supports more than 300 coins and assets. That is the primary encryption wallet with decentralized cross-chain exchanges available. Customers can trade Bitcoin, Litecoin, and QTUM without any middle people. The Atomic Wallet group also aims to strengthen the Ethereum for exchanges. Besides, Atomic Wallet offers an alternative to buying XRP, BTC, LTC, and ETH with natural customary trade management and debit card for digital currency types. Each of these highlights is created in a clear and complete interface. You do not need to check or register your personality. Download, install and start using your Atomic Wallet for your working framework. Atomic Wallet works on frameworks that will be available within the workspace, and will also be accessible for macOS, Linux and Android, and iOS devices. The Atomic Wallet creates a memory aid seed for your wallet and encodes the private keys on your gadget. If you keep your cryptos in the Atomic Wallet, you must save it and keep it in a safe place, since the seed has been shown once and has not been emailed. Atomic Wallet supports private key retrieval so you can easily move your assets from one to the other wallet. Atomic Wallet gives its interface to custom tokens, so everyone can contain custom tokens by bringing a cunning contact address. Atomic Wallet is an unusual digital currency initiative by all accounts. At one point, you can audit more than 300, trade and buy some, try creative Atomic swaps, gain admission to special markers, and be interested in abundance. Each of these highlights is achieved without detention.

Trust Wallet

Trust Wallet is the world's driving multi-resource computerized wallet which stores both Bitcoin and altcoins. It as of now bolsters more than 13 crypto coins and is a perfect decision for multi-digital money clients. With a functioning advancement group working at lightning speed, it's likewise entirely dependable. Altcoins, for example, Binance, Monero, Tether, Ripple, and a lot more are on their improvement guide. Trust Wallet gives a consistent, frictionless, and simple to utilize UI. It takes no email confirmations, no onboarding, and no usernames-passwords to begin utilizing Trust Wallet. It is an HD wallet which accompanies a seed reinforcement key element. The seed key encourages you in controlling and reestablishing your crypto resources on the off chance that your gadget is harmed or lost. You can send out your private keys, and import Bitcoin or altcoins from paper wallets.

Mycelium Wallet

Mycelium is an open-source, built-in Bitcoin wallet with a constantly evolving and working the designer network. That is a frictionless device for eliminating Bitcoin because it does not require email approvals, onboarding, and no username password to get started. Apart from the chance you're new to Bitcoin, Mycelium's user interface is difficult to use, but you'll love anything. You will check your Bitcoin private key and usually receive it when necessary. Mycelium is an HD wallet that offers a 12-word recovery password that you need to record. When you have no chance of damaging or losing your gadget, this supplemental seed switch will help you make up your Bitcoin.

Electrum Wallet

Electrum is a famous, free stockpiling alternative in the Bitcoin people group, and is one of the most, if not the most, well-regarded of the work area stockpiling applications out there. Electrum gets high stamps for its convenience and UI, which is constantly decent, yet the genuine reason it's the best Bitcoin wallet for work area is its wellbeing and unwavering quality. As with any workspace wallet that deserves respect, customers have the opportunity to check their private keys thanks to Electrum. Your private key is a long string of letters and numbers, and you need to keep it private as it gives you access to your Bitcoin. Numerous online wallets and online trades don't give you extreme control of your private key, including an additional layer of hazard. You need to both trust the counterparty is a decent entertainer and expectation its servers don't get hacked, as that could bargain the administration or your data.

Final Choice

If you do not plan to store your Bitcoin or altcoins for too long, you do not need the hardware wallets I mentioned in the first item. In this case, I think the best of the remaining four options is the Atomic Wallet. Because it has great community support rather than all the technological infrastructure and the number of coins/tokens it supports. Besides, you can get all the support you need about Atomic Wallet quickly and in detail through Telegram channels. As a result, aside from the hardware wallets, the best bitcoin and even the altcoin wallet on the market seems to be the Atomic Wallet in terms of all the features it has.

Mycelium entropy from asicminer-shop.de. Firmware doesn't check out.

UPDATE: As can be seen further down this thread, this firmware has been officially recognized by Mycelium and the sha1 is listed on the Entropy website. Case closed and thanks to the Mycelium team for the follow-up!
I just received my mycelium entropy device ordered from asicminer-shop.de, listed as the official EU resellers for these devices.
First thing I did was plugging the device into my laptop and generate a simple single address paper wallet. First thing I noticed was this on the bottom of the generated image. https://i.imgur.com/hkFD2ju.jpg A customized footer. This lead me to do a checksum of the firmware and compare it to the original mycelium firmware.
Official entropy v1.1 checksum:
sha1: 1d203522b5437309c1f0c15749844d3692e17e1c
My v1.1 checksum:
[[email protected] ~]$ sha1sum /run/media/xxx/BOOTLOADEfirmware.bin d2b70565164c63890eccea183d01674574e145db /run/media/xxx/BOOTLOADEfirmware.bin
Just to be sure I downloaded the firmware from the mycelium website and did a checksum myself:
[[email protected] ~]$ sha1sum /home/xxx/documents/bitcoin/mycelium/entropy/me-1.1.bin 1d203522b5437309c1f0c15749844d3692e17e1c /home/xxx/documents/bitcoin/mycelium/entropy/me-1.1.bin
My conclusion here is that the official entropy firmware checks out, the shipped version on my device does not. asicminer-shop.de must be compiling and shipping their own version of the entropy firmware.
I then tried to install (update procedure) the official entropy firmware, but every time I try it fails.
I enter the config mode. Copy the new .bin file. Unmount the usb device and press the entropy button. I get a repeating series of 6 or 7 led flashes (hard to tell, it flashes to fast). Following the mycelium documentation this translates to:
6 Flashes
Incorrect firmware signature. The new firmware’s signature is invalid, or its public key is not authorised. All authorised keys must be listed in settings.txt.
7 Flashes
Invalid firmware. The new firmware image is not signed, or does not contain valid Mycelium Entropy firmware.
I guess all left to do here is the un-brick procedure.
Please let me know if there are issues with my methodology or my conclusion is wrong, because I am no expert in this matter at all.

Mycelium adds support for KeepKey. iOS wallet back on the market.

Continuing its support for all the best and newest bitcoin hardware, Mycelium Wallet has just released an update that adds support for the KeepKey hardware wallet. KeepKey is a secure hardware bitcoin (and altcoin) wallet that generates and stores your private keys on the hardware device itself. The private keys never leave the security of the device. To send bitcoin, Mycelium Wallet creates a transaction, sends it to the KeepKey device over a USB cable, KeepKey asks you to verify and confirm the address, and once you do, signs the transaction right on the device and send it back to your Mycelium Wallet to be broadcast. Because the private keys never leave the device, there is no risk of theft from infected or compromised smartphones or computers. With this addition to the wallet, Mycelium now supports all three of the popular bitcoin hardware wallets, Trezor, Ledger, and KeepKey (even at the same time).
In other news, after an extensive review of our iOS wallet, and fixing some of the issues that we were concerned about, we have released our iOS wallet back on the Apple AppStore. With our recent internal change in how we plan to go forward, our iOS wallet will continue to be supported and developed. More information on that will be released a bit later.

Using old smartphones as offline wallets?

Hello bitcoiners!
I got into bitcoin last summer. I've used Mycelium wallet, but also have some coins on Coinbase. I have been growing increasingly worried about security as with Coinbase I don't have my private keys and as they say, if you don't have the private keys, it's not your bitcoin. Mycelium is great and all since I have the private keys (if I've correctly understood they never leave the phone). However, with mobile wallets I worry about malware. I've used this phone a lot, rooted it, installed all kinds of apps and browsed the web. I don't feel it's safe anymore to store my valuable coins in there.
So I was thinking: Is it safe to have my coins on an old smartphone if I do a hard reset, install a mobile wallet like Mycelium on it and disconnect it from the internet for good? Can something go wrong in this process?
